RUCO FILES DIRECT TESTIMONY IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSED APS SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT

 

On Wednesday, July 1, 2009, Arizona Public Service Company, ACC Staff, RUCO and a number of other intervenors filed direct testimony  in support of a proposed settlement agreement in the APS rate case that is currently before the Arizona Corporation Commission. Testimony in opposition to the agreement is due on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.

 

The evidentiary hearing on the proposed settlement agreement has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Commission's offices located at 1200 W. Washington, Phoenix, AZ.  A public comment session will be held at the same address at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009.

COURT OF APPEALS AFFIRMS ACC DECISION TO REJECT FIRE-FLOW SURCHARGE FOR  ARIZONA-AMERICAN'S SUN CITY WATER DISTRICT

 

On Friday, June 26, 2009, the Arizona Court of Appeals affirmed the Arizona Corporation Commission's decision to reject a fire-flow surcharge for Arizona-American Water Company's Sun City Water District.  The ACC decision adopted arguments made by RUCO during the Sun City Water District rate case proceeding.  The appeal was filed by the Town of Youngtown.

CLOSING BRIEF FILED IN FAR WEST WATER & SEWER COMPANY INTERIM RATE CASE PROCEEDING

 

On Monday, June 22, 2009, RUCO filed its closing brief on Far West Water & Sewer Company's request for an emergency interim rate increase.

DIRECT TESTIMONY FILED IN ARIZONA WATER COMPANY RATE CASE

 

On Friday, June 12, 2009, RUCO filed direct testimony on Arizona Water Company's request for a permanent increase in rates for all seventeen of its statewide operating systems.  Direct testimony on rate  design is scheduled to be filed on Friday, June 26, 2009.

DIRECT TESTIMONY FILED IN UNS GAS, INC. RATE CASE

 

On Monday, June 8, 2009, RUCO filed its direct testimony on UNS Gas, Inc.'s request for a permanent increase in rates.  The subsidiary of UniSource Energy Corporation provides natural gas service to a number of communities in Northern Arizona (including Flagstaff, Kingman and Prescott) as well as Santa Cruz County in the southern half of the state.

RUCO PROFILED ON KAET'S "HORIZON" PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAM

 

The Residential Utility Consumer Office was recently profiled on local PBS affiliate KAET's public affairs program "Horizon." 

 

RUCO Director Jodi Jerich was interviewed by host Ted Simons during the segment, which originally aired on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2009.

JOHNSON UTILITIES HEARING SUSPENDED

 

The Administrative Law Judge assigned to hear Johnson Utilities' request for an increase in rates suspended the evidentiary hearing in order to allow attorneys for the Company, ACC Staff, and RUCO the opportunity to conduct discovery and file two rounds of legal briefs on a transcript of a recording of a conversation between the witness for intervenor Swing First and a manager for Johnson Utilities (the transcript was offered as an exhibit by Swing First's attorney). 

 

RUCO filed its initial brief on Monday, May 11, 2009.  Reply briefs were filed on Friday, May 29, 2009.

RUCO's final schedules and legal briefs on the pending Arizona-American rate case proceeding have been filed.  Click here to view RUCO's final positions on each of the seven districts that Arizona-American is seeking rate increases for.
